The Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston expansion in Ladson, South Carolina transformed the existing facility into a full-scale manufacturing operation supporting next-generation Sprinter van production for the North American market. The multi-building expansion included new body shop, paint shop, and assembly facilities, establishing one of the largest and most advanced automotive manufacturing operations in the region.

JMT provided comprehensive engineering, detailing, and BIM services throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the team from preconstruction through erection. Working in a design-assist role, JMT delivered structural analysis and design, structural and miscellaneous steel detailing, connection design, stair engineering, concrete and reinforcing steel detailing, and BIM management to facilitate coordination across disciplines and support efficient project execution.

In addition to design and detailing services, JMT provided erection engineering, including stability and temporary bracing analyses required for the safe construction of large-scale structural systems. Through close collaboration with project stakeholders, JMT helped optimize constructability, streamline fabrication and installation activities, and support the successful delivery of this major automotive manufacturing expansion.
